Overcombe
4mm | OO Gauge
Overcombe was an extension of the clubs main layout Newhampton, built in the 1970s and designed as an exhibition layout.
The station building was based upon Corfe Castle. Sometime during it life and intermediate board was added portraying a quarry with narrow gauge tram track. It appeared in the October 1985 edition of Model Railway Constructor.
The layout was sold to a club to a club member who stored it in his garage for over 30 years. In 2022
The layout was brought out of retirement and exhibited once again at our annual exhibition. Very little work needed to be done to make it operational and due to the dark dry atmosphere in which it was stored the scenery and building remain a testimony to the skills of its builders over 40 years ago.
Its remarkable existence was documented when it again appeared in the modeling press after the show. Even more remarkable was that the original photographer also took the latest photos.
