What a fantastic day we had today to celebrate our 60th anniversary. The members took to the sea on the gorgeous ship Steamship Shieldhall we sailed down the Southampton waters to the Isle of Wight cruising along at 9 knots passing cruise ships and having a horny sound off with them all.
We had two of our original SMRS members Ian Wilkins who joined in 1968 and David D’Arcy who joined in 1966 joining when the club was only 4 months old cut our anniversary cake as we thought it was fitting being the longest standing members. Sadly, we have lost members over the years and they are missed dearly and often talked about and their time with us.
I hope their family’s realise how much they meant to our club. So it was lovely to celebrate this milestone with all the fantastic members we have now 60yrs on. Here are a few pictures from day of our celebration.
